Melanotan 2 – Overview

Melanotan 2 (MT-2) is a synthetic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH).
It is primarily studied for skin tanning, sexual arousal, and appetite regulation.
MT-2 is more potent than Melanotan 1 and has additional effects on sexual function via central nervous system receptors.

How Melanotan 2 Works

Melanotan 2 works by:

✔ Activating melanocortin receptors

Binds to MC1R in melanocytes to stimulate melanin production (tanning)

Binds to MC3 and MC4 receptors in the brain to influence sexual arousal and appetite

✔ Supporting skin pigmentation

Increases melanin production for a darker, more even skin tone

✔ Influencing sexual function

Stimulates sexual desire and arousal in both men and women

✔ Modulating metabolism

May have mild appetite-suppressing effects
